Salsa is a genre of music and playing that is generally assumed to have Caribbean origins. This type of music, which was common only among people of South / Central American origin, has become popular in every corner of the world, especially after the 1980s.
Consisting of a mixture of several musical genres, Salsa is often used to describe different musical genres of Cuban origin. Maybe that’s why the Spanish word Salsa, meaning ‘sauce’, was appropriate for this genre.
There are different opinions about the origin of salsa. Although it is often claimed that salsa comes primarily from the ‘Last’ music of Cuba, some argue that it originated in a blend of musical styles seen in 1950s New York. In any case, the Caribbean influence in this musical genre is undeniable.
