1. Waltz
Waltz developed in the early 19th century by incorporating the local differences of the dance regions in Austria and Germany. The dance style practiced especially in the ‘Landlob der Enss’ region of Northern Austria became very popular, taking the name ‘Londler’.
The waltz reached wide audiences in Vienna in a short time and in England since 1812, with the influence of Johann Strauss’s music, and became the indispensable entertainment of balls by gaining the appreciation of the aristocracy. Today, Waltz takes place in the world of dance literature in two different rhythms and categories, ‘Vienna Waltz’ and ‘Modern Waltz’.
