40. Terme di Saturnia, Italy
Terme di Saturnia is a group of springs in the Italian municipality of Manciano, a few kilometers from the village of Saturnia. Passing over Mount Amiata and the surrounding Maremma hills, Saturnia’s steaming hot sulfurous waters collect in deep rocky rock pools below.
According to legend popularized by the Romans, the Roman god of Saturn first created the bows to appease humanity. However, they were completely forgotten until the 19th century, after a malaria epidemic. Today, thousands of people flock here thinking that these waters, which are rich in sulfur and a number of other minerals, have endless health and beauty benefits. These thermal baths reach up to 37°C and are suitable for all seasons.
