28. The Great Migration, East Africa
The Great Migration from Tanzania to Kenya of about two million animals who want to escape the drought that started in May in East Africa and go to fertile lands is worth seeing.
The Great Migration begins south of the Serengeti. Pregnant gnus give birth to about 300,000 cubs in February. The reason why this birth festival takes place in the southern lands of the plain is the fertile volcanic soils that nourish the mothers’ milk. In addition, the fact that the plain is covered with short grass helps the gnus to observe their surroundings comfortably and protect themselves from predators.
